Kit Digital in 2026: what is left and which grants can help
The real state of Spain's Kit Digital in 2026: calls closed, what Order TDF/39/2026 says and which alternatives a Valencian small business has to digitalise.
Equipo Cesko DesignAuthor
As of today, there is no Kit Digital call open: the official Acelera pyme portal states that "the calls of the Kit Digital Programme have ended" and Red.es lists the programme as finished in October 2025 after five calls and more than 900,000 grants. An order from January 2026 has changed the rules so that unspent funds can be reused, but that is not a call. We explain what it means, what to do if you have a pending voucher and which real alternatives a Valencian small business has to digitalise without waiting.
What Kit Digital was (and why people still talk about it)
Kit Digital was born in 2021 within the Recovery Plan (Next Generation EU funds) as the first measure of the 2021-2025 SME Digitalisation Plan. According to Red.es, its budget was 3,067 million euros, five calls were published and more than 900,000 grants were awarded to businesses with 0 to fewer than 50 employees. It worked with a "voucher" the beneficiary spent on solutions (website, online shop, social media, e-invoicing, cybersecurity, AI…) contracted from a digitalising agent. We still get questions about it every week; we explain it on our Kit Digital page.
Status in 2026
Calls: all closed
The programme's official page on Acelera pyme says it plainly: the calls have ended. There is no application window open and no date announced for a new one. If someone offers to "apply for Kit Digital now", be wary: at best they are collecting your details in case it reopens.
Order TDF/39/2026: leftover funds, not a call
On 28 January 2026 the Official State Gazette (BOE) published Order TDF/39/2026, which amends the programme's regulatory rules (Order ETD/1498/2021). According to the sources that have analysed it, its aim is to manage leftover funds: allowing unspent money to be reused and resolving applications that were left without budget. It is a change to the rules, not the opening of a window. If a call for leftover funds is ever published, it will appear on the Red.es site and in the BOE; until then, any date you read elsewhere is speculation.
If you have a voucher already granted
Vouchers granted in the last calls follow their normal cycle: contract the solution with a digitalising agent, implement it and justify it on time. Check your resolution for the deadline to formalise agreements and justify; if it passes, the voucher is lost. Keep all the paperwork (signed agreement, invoice, proof of payment and evidence of implementation): that is what gets reviewed at justification. When in doubt, the official helpline for SMEs is 900 909 001.
Kit Consulting: also closed
The sister advisory programme (vouchers of 12,000 to 24,000 euros for consulting on AI, data, cybersecurity…) also has its application window closed, with no new call confirmed as of today.
Alternatives to digitalise a small business in 2026
- Regional grants (IVACE). The Digitaliza-CV call subsidises digitalisation projects for SMEs with their registered office and production site in the Valencian Community: integrated management software, automation, advanced cybersecurity, AI-based solutions. The 2026 edition opened on 15 January and closed on 3 March 2026; it tends to repeat every year, so it is worth having the project ready for the next one. Check the current rules on the IVACE website.
- Chamber of Commerce programmes. The Valencia Chamber and other chambers periodically run digitalisation programmes co-funded by European funds, with a free diagnosis and help with implementation. They vary each year: ask directly.
- Municipal grants. Councils such as Valencia or Torrent have launched lines for local retail and the self-employed that sometimes include a website, online shop or digital marketing. They are usually published in spring with short deadlines.
- Your own funding, properly sized. A custom corporate website or a well-planned online shop is an investment of a few thousand euros that pays for itself if it brings customers. Better a project tailored to your business than a "free" one nobody uses.
- Obligations that come with or without grants. Verifactu and business-to-business e-invoicing will force an update of invoicing software in 2027-2028. Plan it now as part of your digitalisation, not as a last-minute scare.
What we learned from Kit Digital
After seeing how the vouchers have been used across the sector, the lesson is simple: the grant that worked was the one used to build something the business genuinely needed and that someone maintained afterwards. The mass-produced "Kit Digital websites", with no original copy or content plan, are abandoned today. If you are going to digitalise with or without a subsidy, first define what you want to achieve (more enquiries, selling online, saving admin hours) and choose the tool afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Can I apply for Kit Digital in 2026?
No. All calls are closed and there is no window open. If a call for leftover funds is published, it will appear in the BOE and on the Red.es site.
What about Order TDF/39/2026?
It amends the programme's rules to manage unspent funds. It does not open any application window by itself.
Is there any grant to build my website right now?
It depends on the time of year: Digitaliza-CV (IVACE) usually opens early in the year, and municipal and Chamber grants vary. In the meantime, a properly sized project funds itself.
If you want to know what is worth doing now, with or without a grant, tell us about your project and we will point you in the right direction.
